With a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science and a Ph.D. from Oregon State University, Dr. Vedam brings over 26 years of expertise in Power, Electronic Design Automation, and Oil and Gas industries.
Driven by a passion for interdisciplinary exploration, Dr. Vedam’s research spans applied mathematics, engineering, algorithms, and computer science. His groundbreaking work delves into Archeo-Genetics, Archeo-astronomy, and Archaeology to uncover evidence of ancient Indian knowledge transfers.
A seasoned educator, Dr. Vedam has delivered over 100 lectures in India and the US, shedding light on the scientific validation of India’s historical narratives. He’s also committed to shaping the next generation’s understanding of history, leading high school teacher training workshops and contributing to textbook revisions.

Dr. Parag Havaldar, PhD is an Academy Award winning computer scientist experienced in software technologies for a variety of digital entertainment initiatives that involve 3D computer graphics, computer vision and imaging, machine learning, media compression, streaming and distribution. He has held various industry positions leading engineering teams to pioneer visual effects, animation and game technologies for companies such as SONY Pictures, Activision-Blizzard.
These technologies proved pivotal in the creation of digital characters in many movies such as the Amazing Spiderman series, Robert Zemeckis’s Beowulf, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, and many more. In 2017 the Academy of Motion Pictures presented Dr. Parag Havaldar a Technical Achievement Award for his “pioneering work on expression based facial performance capture technology, which enabled the creation and animation of realistic digital characters at a large scale for the motion pictures industry”. Currently, Parag is part of the technical leadership at Activision-Blizzard Entertainment advancing cinematic technology efforts for prominent game franchises such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, StarCraft, Hearthstone.
Parag also serves as an adjunct faculty member of Computer Science in the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. He has published numerous technical papers at international conferences, has been awarded several patents in performance capture/animation for cinematic content creation, stereoscopic cinema creation, media compression. He is frequently invited to lecture about topics in media and animation technologies at international conferences and industry events. He has also published university adopted textbooks in multimedia, graphics, compression and distribution.
Parag Havaldar received a PhD in computer vision & graphics from the University of Southern California, and a BTech in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur.

Vice President and General Manager, AOA West, R2D2 Expert
Paul Bailey is the Vice President and General Manager of AOA West, headquartered in Burbank, California. He is a mixed-media artist and technologist who specializes in mis-applying common technology for immersive storytelling. With expertise in illusions, special effects, and show technology integration, Paul’s extensive work in the themed entertainment industry spans nearly three decades and covers a wide range of storytelling tools, methods, and environments.
Before joining AOA in 2020, Paul worked in multiple roles at Walt Disney Imagineering, totaling fifteen years of combined service on global projects. Paul was the Principal Concept Technical Director for Imagineering over the Star Wars land expansions at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, responsible for setting the overall creative technology strategy. Paul developed the projection system used in Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and directed the delivery of the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction. He was also responsible for bringing all the Astromech droids to life in the land, gaining him the dubious distinction of “R2D2 expert.”
Previously Paul was on the opening team of Walt Disney’s Studios Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland’s (California) New Tomorrowland, and many other domestic attractions. At Electrosonic as their Director of US and Asia Operations he contributed to significant projects such as the National 9/11 Museum and The Tom Bradley Terminal at LAX, as well as multiple attractions for Universal properties. Previously Paul led R&D for underwater show elements at WET Design and worked on military and automotive projects at Applied Minds. He also founded Art and Automation, a Hawaii-based luxury home firm. Originally trained as an illustrator and sculptor, Paul’s career began in movies and TV as a creature designer and makeup artist on Star Trek the Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek VI, Star Trek VII, The Mask, Hellraiser 3, Mortal Kombat, and in Visual Effects on Dante’s Peak.
His career is demonstrative of his multifaceted skillset and his ability to seamlessly integrate technical and creative work. His ability to work intuitively with both creative and technical disciplines is only outdone by his loyalty to and enthusiasm for his teams. A dynamic and strategic leader, Paul is a proven and well-seasoned professional in the creative, technical, and administrative facets of our industry.
Paul is a serial entrepreneur, trained chef, fan of vertically integrated manufacturing, and antique truck enthusiast.
